Membranous nephropathy is the most common pathological type of nephrotic syndrome. The incidence of membranous nephropathy has increased significantly in recent years. Its treatment in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a significant advantage. For the patients with membranous nephropathy, our department used Chinese medicine oral treatment by combining with Chinese medicine soaks, ultrasonic drug penetration, ear-acupoint pressing with beans, point application and other TCM characteristic therapies. There is a significant effect on improving edema, soreness of waist, fatigue and other clinical symptoms, or laboratory indicators. After long-term outpatient follow-up, the majority of patients became negative in urine protein, achieved lessening of edema, and improved renal functions. The treatment has progressive remission with a low low recurrence rate. Especially, the patients with stage I-II idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), who were treated repeatedly by hormones and immunosuppressants but their condition was not relieved, could be improved significantly by comprehensive treatment of TCM.
