Cao Xiping (1930 - 1993), male, was born in Pingshun County, Shanxi Province. Doctor Cao loved Chinese medicine since he was a child. He learned from many famous Chinese medicine physicians when he was 15 years old. He studied classical Chinese medicine and laid a solid foundation for Chinese medicine. In 1950, he was admitted as a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In 1953, he worked as a teacher at Beijing Advanced School of TCM. In 1958, he went to Chengdu College of TCM for further study. In the 1960s, he served as a Teacher, President of the Labor Union, Secretary of the Youth League Branch, Acting President and Secretary of the Party Branch. In 1968, he was transferred to Beijing Hospital of TCM, where he served as a Chief Physician and Deputy Director of Internal Medicine. In 1983, he was transferred to the Department of TCM of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health as Deputy Director. In 1984, he returned to Beijing Hospital of TCM as the Director of the hospital. He had served as the Director of Committee of All-China Association of TCM, Director of Committee of China Association of Research of TCM, Executive Director and Deputy Secretary-general of Beijing Association of TCM, President of Guangming Correspondence University Beijing Branch, Director of Xinghua University, and Invited Editor of China Journal of TCM and Pharmacy. In 1990, he was identified as the instructor of the national senior Chinese medicine physicians on inheriting academic experiences.

Doctor Cao had been engaged in the clinical practice and teaching of Chinese medicine for more than 40 years, and had accumulated rich practical experiences in treating various internal diseases, especially in treating bronchitis, asthma, cor pulmonale and male diseases, being praised by patients with remarkable curative effect. He summed up his experiences and wrote more than 10 professional papers, and participated in national academic conferences and exchanges, which were highly praised by his peers. He has taught for many years and compiled various lecture notes and teaching materials with about 800,000 words, leaving precious wealth for the teaching of TCM. His descendants are Yuan Huiqing, and etc.
