Chen Zhongrui (1928 - 1996), male, was born in Donglu County, Hebei Province. In his childhood, Mr. Chen studied medicine with his uncle. In 1940, he went to Beijing to study medicine with the famous Confucian doctor Ma Bingqian for more than ten years. In 1952, he began to practice medicine in Ma Laoyuan Clinic. In 1956, he worked in Baizhifang United Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In 1959, he studied at Beijing School of TCM, and he stayed on as a teacher in this school because of his excellent grades. In 1960, he studied with Zhou Muxin, a famous pediatrician of TCM, and he benefited a lot from the learning experiences. In the same year, he was transferred to Beijing Hospital of TCM, where he served as Physician, Chief Physician, Member of Pediatric Branch of Beijing Association of TCM and Consultant to Tongrentang Group. In 1990, he was identified as priority academic experiences inheritance object among the famous old doctors of TCM in Beijing.

Mr. Chen inherited the medical skills of two famous Chinese medicine experts, and made remarkable achievements in the treatment of pediatric Chinese medicine by accumulating decades of clinical experiences. He specialized in the treatment of digestive system diseases and hepatitis B in children, and the clinical effects were remarkable. He invented "Anorexia Appetizers", "Heparin" and other drugs through summing up years of experiences, winning the "Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Inventions" in Beijing. The drugs were later transferred to Beijing TCM Factory for production, providing new drugs for the treatment of "Anorexia" and "Hepatitis B" of children. In recent years, he has written more than 20 papers, such as 300 Cases of Treating Infantile Anorexia with Appetizing Granule, Treating Regularity for Children’s Low Fever and 200 Cases of Clinical Summary of Infantile High Fever and so on. He has also written many monographs, such as Treatment and Prevention of Infantile Measles, Treatment and Prevention of Infantile Diarrhea and Common Chinese Patent Medicines for Children, which have contributed to the construction of Department of Pediatrics of the hospital.
