Zhou Muxin (1902 - 1979), male, a native of Beijing . Mr. Zhou was smart and diligent to learn knowledge when he was young. At the age of 15, he started to learn with Li Xiusheng, a famous doctor and his first teacher for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). At the age of twenty, he obtained the Chinese medicine qualification and was admitted to the Medicine Center of Xunqing Imperial Hospital, where he received guidance from the directors such as Zhao Youqin, Qu Wenlou and other seniors. That benefited him greatly and improved his medical skills. Three years later, he practiced medicine in Beijing. At the beginning he treated normal disease, and in his thirties, he specialized in pediatrics and gained good fame in Beijing within a few years. Mr. Zhou was very good at the treatment of measles complicated with pneumonia, cough and asthma like bronchitis, pneumonia, and etc., and infantile constant fever, dysentery and so on. He is highly praised by the public. The streets and alleys of the Interior Department of Dongcheng, where he worked, were full of patients all day long.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhou successively engaged in diagnosis, treatment and teaching in Beijing Children's Hospital, School of TCM and Beijing Hospital of TCM. In the diagnosis and treatment, Mr. Zhou was extremely serious, and explained and gave advice with great patience, the children's families were extremely moved. In teaching, Mr. Zhou was tireless and unreserved. He prepared lessons carefully and repeatedly even if that courses had been given many times. On the basis of studying classical Chinese medicine, he studied the science of febrile diseases and pediatrics. He learned from the past but not limited to that and flexibly adapted to the circumstances, which led great achievements. In his later years, he still kept his books on hand all days, diligently sought knowledge and studied hard all his life. He is an example of lifelong learning for the posterity.
