Yang Yinong

Yang Yinong, whose courtesy name is Yucai, male, a native of Beijing, was born in 1900 and died in 1969 at the age of 69. Mr. Yang was born into a family of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). He studied medicine with his father from an early age and learned classic Chinese medicine books, and accumulated solid basic skills. In 1924, he passed the qualification exam and was officially listed as a doctor in Beijing. He inherited medical method from his family, studied hard, and was familiar with various subjects. He was especially good at pediatrics. His curative effect was remarkable, and he was trusted by the public. In the 1940s, he enjoyed the reputation of “Paediatrics Expert Yang” in Dongcheng area of Beijing.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he studied modern medicine in Beijing Advanced School of TCM from 1951 to 1953, worked in the First Outpatient Department of TCM in Beijing in 1954, recruited to Beijing Hospital of TCM in 1956 and served as chief physician in the Department of Pediatrics. In 1958, he served as the Deputy to the People's Congress of Dongcheng District and Member of the People's Committee of Dongcheng District. Mr. Yang had profound attainments in TCM theory. He especially praised Treatise on Febrile Diseases. He thought that "the way of learning is endless, and the content of febrile disease is extremely high". He once wrote Thousands of Humble Opinions on Febrile Diseases, which provided his personal opinions on the characteristics, reading methods and taboos of febrile diseases. He learned from the past but was good at independent thinking. He never blindly followed others, but accumulated experiences and summarized to improve his skills. He had written a book of Medical Reading Notes, and papers like On Children's Pneumonia, On Dialectical Treatment of Measles, which were well received by his peers. His clinical treatment drugs were refined, original, aimed at the cure. He never catered to others, and he advocated for the preparations reform. He had developed very popular "Ansou Potion", "Qingliang Potion", "Jiangre Potion" and other characteristic drugs suitable for children, which had significant curative effect and were easy to be accepted by children. He had made great contributions to the development of pediatrics of TCM by improving medical skills, teaching by words and deeds, focusing on training talents.
