Qi Zhenhua (1899-1969), courtesy name Wenpei, a native of Beijing. Mr. Qi was determined to study medicine at a very young age. In 1915, he got himself a teacher and studied Chinese medicine classics and famous medical works of all dynasties. He set up a clinic in Baozi Street, Xicheng District after got the doctor qualification in 1923. Mr. Qi was an expert at all kinds of difficult and complicated pediatric diseases. Being modest and prudent, he prescribed simple and effective medicine. By 1931, he had become well-known in Beijing, and there were so many people coming to his clinic every day that he was too busy to attend to all.

In 1956, when Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was founded, he was appointed as the First Director of the Department of Pediatrics. He had been rated as an advanced worker of the hospital and of Beijing for many times. In 1960, he was selected as the representative of national advanced pediatric workers and awarded the title of "Pediatric Expert" and presented the certificate by Soong Ching Ling, Vice President of the State Council.

Beside profound attainments in TCM theory, Mr. Qi also had formed his own unique style in many years of clinical practice. He was concise in medication, often with three or four kinds of medicine, or five or six for serious diseases, yet with very good curative effect. He used to say, "Expensive medicine does not cure all disease, but what is right is good." His students compiled and published the Collection of Qi Zhenhua's Clinical Experiences after his death, which was highly praised and well received by the medical fraternity.
