Department of Pediatrics of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a key specialist department under Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Beijing Pediatric Diagnosis and Treatment Center of TCM. Since its establishment, the Department has trained many famous pediatricians of TCM, such as Qi Zhenhua, Feng Quanfu, Teng Xuanguang, Song Zuomin, Wen Zhenying and Wang Yinglin, and produced more than 10 kinds of traditional pediatric preparations including Qingfei Pill, Zhisou Huatan Dingchuan Pill, Ekou Powder, Huapi Plaster, Wenyang Huatan Acupoints Plaster, Yangyin Yiqi Mixture and Jianpi Yiqi Mixture. The Department has six famous doctor studios, namely, "Wen Zhenying Famous Doctor Inheritance Studio", "Song Zuomin Famous Doctor Inheritance Studio", "Wang Yinglin Famous Doctor Inheritance Studio" under National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; "Feng Quanfu Famous Specialist Research Studio" and "She Jilin Famous Doctor Inheritance Station"under Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and "Innovative Studio of Feng's Kneading Therapy" under Labor Union of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It carries out the characteristic massage therapy based on the famous "Feng's Kneading Therapy" for pediatric diseases including treat anorexia, stagnation, recurrent respiratory infection and other diseases, achieving remarkable curative effect. At present, there are 9 retired experts in the Department, including 5 state-level and Beijing municipal-level veteran TCM doctors, who insist on weekly clinical service to escort the children's health and make contribution to Department of Pediatrics's talents training.
Our Department has 28 medical staff, 3 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians，3 doctors and 15masters, who are responsible for treating, teaching and researching of the Department of Pediatrics. The Department's outpatient service provides expert consulting for children with disease of respiratory system （such as respiratory tract infection, recurrent respiratory infection, asthma, rhinitis, adenoidal hypertrophy, persistent cough ）, of digestive system (such as anorexia, dyspepsia, emesis, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea ) , of nervous system (such as transient tic disorder, hyperactivity ), of urinary system (such as enuresis, frequent micturition ).And we have some special consulting rooms of characteristic TCM therapy for children with recurrent respiratory infection, persistent cough, snoring, rhinitis, enuresis, transient tic disorder, anorexia, constipation and precocious puberty.The Department mainly adopts the internal and external treatment methods of Chinese and Western medicine, point application, Chinese medicine enema, acupuncture and massage, which have achieved significant curative effect.
The ward of the Department is equipped with 6 beds, which are mainly used for treating children with recurrent respiratory infections, transient tic disorder, enuresis, asthma, upper airway cough syndrome, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, anorexia, moderate to severe gastroesophageal reflux and other diseases through traditional Chinese medicine therapy or integrative therapy with Chinese and Western medicine treatment advantages. Under the guidance of academic thoughts of the Department's famous veteran doctors, comprehensive treatment of taking Chinese medicine according to syndrome differentiation, acupuncture and massage, etc. are adopted, achieving remarkable clinical effect.
