Date:2020-01-07

Sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China, the 2019 Training Course on Medical and Healthcare Techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Developing Countries was successfully held in our hospital from October 10th, 2019 to November 28th, 2019 taking 50 days. 30 participants were from 11 countries including Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Laos, Pakistan, Nepal, Cambodia, Panama, Dominica Republic, Suriname, Albania, Ethiopia and Vanuatu.

In the past two months, participants had a stronger appreciation of basic contents and principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and got some idea of the rich cultural connotations of TCM by systematically studying the basic TCM theoretical knowledge, practicing the basic TCM techniques and conducting clinical probation in the outpatient department of our hospital.

In addition to lectures, practical operations and clinical probation, affiliated hospital visits in suburban district were also arranged for participants which covers Yanqing Hospital of TCM, Huairou Hospital of TCM and Shunyi Hospital of TCM. Participants had an informal discussion with the leaders and experts of each hospital. Our hospital also organized a visit for all participants to the Beijing TCM Museum to learn about the long history of TCM. At the same time, we leaded participants to visit Shuguang Hospital in Shanghai and Jiaxing TCM hospital in Zhejiang Province, to let the participants experience different schools of TCM culture. Meanwhile, we organized many exchanges and symposiums of traditional medicine among different countries to enhance mutual understanding. What’s more, we arranged abundant culture experience visits of Beijing's scenic spots and historic sites for our participants on weekends and holidays. The majestic appearance of Badaling Great Wall, the ancient and magnificent architecture of the Forbidden City, the landscape of the summer palace and its long corridor with legendary historical stories and paintings… all of these left wonderful impressions on participants with excitements and praises.

At the end of the training course, the participants expressed their hope to strengthen cooperation and exchange with our hospital in the field of TCM, so as to  further learn the techniques and diagnosis and treatment methods of TCM such as health preservation, acupuncture and moxibustion, massage, etc., and they also hoped that the Chinese government would provide more opportunities with longer time to them, so that they or their colleagues could come to study again. Through this way can expand the international influence of TCM, promote it to the world and bring good news to patients all over the world.
