Recently, the "4th Beijing International Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine for Digestive Disease Summit Forum" & the "7th Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integration Forum on Spleen and Stomach Diseases-Beijing Forum" & the "2nd Forum on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Digestive Diseases of Medical Society of Western Returned Scholars Association", sponsored by Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine, Branch of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Digestive Diseases of Medical Society of Western Returned Scholars Association and Branch of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Gastroenterology of China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare, and co-organized by our hospital and Shunyi Hospital of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, were held in Beijing.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Shengsheng, the Chairman of the conference and Director of Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital. Pan Suyan, the Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals; Luo Zenggang, the Deputy Director of Beijing Chinese Medicine Administration Bureau; and Xin Bin, the Secretary of the Party Committee of our hospital, attended the opening ceremony and made keynote speeches. Zhao Jing, the President of Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine; Zheng Hong, the Vice President and Secretary General of Medical Society of Western Returned Scholars Association, and Professor Hu Fulian, Peking University First Hospital, attended the opening ceremony.

More than 20 renowned Chinese and Western medicine experts, including Academician Fan Daiming, Professor Franz Hartmann (German), the President of German Association for Gastroenterology, Professor Piero Portincasa (Italy), the President of European Society for Clinical Research, and others headed lectures on seven units such as functional gastrointestinal diseases, HP, gastrointestinal precancerous lesions and tumor prevention and treatment in the conference, showing the latest clinical and scientific research progress of digestive diseases in Chinese and Western medicine. More than 400 experts and scholars, including 40 foreign guests from more than 10 countries, attended the meeting.

Focusing on the international frontiers of digestive disorders, plus a concentration on clinic and rejection of the distinction between the east and the west, it rallied top academic strength by inviting famous international and domestic digestive experts to have in-depth, face-to-face exchanges and collisions on current hot issues, the latest progress and the diagnosis and treatment ideas of digestive diseases, so as to make the best of the both sides, promote mutual development and improve the curative effect. The conference, therefore, is of practical significance.

Participants expressed the hope that there would be more such high-level academic conferences, and that the common development of Chinese and Western medicine will certainly lead to the development of the academic level of digestive diseases in China. (Source: Department of Gastroenterology)
