The 3rd Beijing International Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment for Digestive Disease Summit Forum was Held

From June 15 to 16,2017, "the 3rd Beijing International Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment for Digestive Disease Summit Forum" & "the 5th Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integration Academic Forum on Spleen and Stomach Diseases-Beijing Forum" & "the 1st Academic Forum on Spleen and Stomach Diseases of Five Provinces and Cities of North China and Bohai Sea Region" were held at the Beijing Conference Center, the Forum was sponsored by Spleen and Stomach Diseases Branch of China Association of Chinese Medicine, Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine and Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and co-organized by Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine International Exchange & Cooperation Center, Spleen and Stomach Diseases Professional Committee of Associations of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Tianjin City, Hebei Province, Liaoning Province, Shanxi Province, Shandong Province and Inner Mongolia. More than 500 experts and scholars, including Sang Binsheng, the Former Director of the Policy, Regulation and Supervision Department of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Secretary General of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies; Professor Paul Eaton from University of Virginia in America; Professor Jande Chen from Johns Hopkins University in America; Professor Mark Fox from University of Nottingham in UK, Professor Li Qiangou and Professor Liu Qiquan of state-level famous doctors of traditional Chinese medicine; Professor Ke Meiyun of the famous expert of Western medicine from Union Medical College Hospital; Professor Hu Fulian from Peking University First Hospital and others attended the opening ceremony.


Pan Suyan, the Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals, Luo Zenggang, the Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Xin Bin, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine delivered speeches. The content of the meeting is divided into three parts: (1) Report on Invitation; (2) Forum on Research Progress of Gastrointestinal Diseases; (3) Discussion of Difficult Digestion Cases. The Secretary General Sang Binsheng explained the formulation and main contents of the Law of Traditional Chinese Medicine in detail in the unit of Report on Invitation. Professor Paul Yeaton and Professor Mark Fox gave lectures on "Diagnosis and Treatment Strategy and Thinking of Early Gastrointestinal Cancer" and "Recent Progress of Irritable Bowel Syndrome" by combining their own clinical experiences. The brilliant speeches of three experts expounded and discussed the hot issues of contemporary medicine and digestive diseases from a strategic position, arising the active thinking of the participants in the meeting.

The unit of Forum on Research Progress of Gastrointestinal Diseases: nearly ten professors including Professor Jiande. Chen, the Director of Center for Digestive Dynamics of Johns Hopkins University in America, Professor Zhang Shengsheng, the Director of Department of Gastroenterology of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other professors delivered excellent speeches on the following topics: the frontiers and strategies of basic research on gastrointestinal diseases, how to select effective drugs to treat gastrointestinal diseases by virtue of the relationship between mental state and chronic inflammation, confusion and thinking on TCM treatment of precancerous lesions of chronic atrophic gastritis, progress in diagnosis and treatment of DDW digestive diseases in the United States, how to apply real-world registration study to study on TCM treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, the advantages and characteristics of TCM in treating functional gastrointestinal diseases from compiling the guiding principles of national TCM new drugs, the difficulty of the treatment of ulcerative colitis and the effective intervention of traditional Chinese medicine, research progress and treatment strategy of irritable bowel syndrome, thinking and experience on improving the curative effect of TCM on spleen and stomach diseases, and psychological intervention and TCM treatment of dispersing the depressed vital energy of gastrointestinal diseases.

The Unit of Cases Discussion: Professor Lan Yu, the Director of Department of Gastroenterology of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, and Professor Du Hongbo, the Director of Department of Gastroenterology of Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine shared their experiences of failure and success of difficult digestive cases in clinical work, discussed and exchanged their opinions and learned from each other's valuable experiences.

The conference brought together Chinese and Western medicine experts on digestive diseases to exchange views on the hot topics, difficulties and key issues in the field of digestion, and participants expressed their expectation for more such high-level academic conferences, which greatly benefited the participants.
