China has the highest morbidity and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma in the world. The number of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma accounts for more than 50% of the world. So far, there is no special effective treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. In recent years, more and more evidences show that the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine can benefit the patients. On the basis of Guan Youbo's "syndrome differentiation of qi-blood" and "theory of phlegm and blood stasis", the Department of Hepatology of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine adopts the treatment of "reinforcing healthy qi and removing pathogenic factors" towards hepatocellular carcinoma, and accumulates rich clinical experience. Reinforcing healthy qi adopts method of "fortifying the spleen and replenishing qi, nourishing the blood and emolliating the liver, enriching and tonifying the liver and kidney", and removing pathogenic factors adopts method of "activating the blood and resolving the stasis, regulating qi and resolving phlegm, transforming qi and disinhibit water, clearing heat and removing toxin". According to the patient's condition, there are different emphases on "reinforcing healthy qi and removing pathogenic factors", which effectively improve the life quality and the survival time of the patients with tumor.
