Date:2019-12-20

Cervical spondylosis is degenerative changes of cervical intervertebral disc and its secondary changes stimulating or compressing adjacent tissues (including nerve root, vertebral artery, spinal cord, sympathetic nerve, etc.), which caused by trauma, strain or wind-cold-dampness pathogen. It shows a series of symptoms and signs, also known as cervical syndrome. When this kind of strain change has affected the cervical nerve roots, spinal cord or main blood vessels, there are a series of symptoms such as shoulder and arm pain, numbness, dizzy, paralysis and so on, which are clinically referred to as cervical spondylosis.

Treatment methods include:

1. Conservative treatment: (1) rest, improve change bad working posture and sleeping posture; (2) wear collar; (3) massage treatment; (4) physical therapy; (5) traction therapy; (6) acupuncture treatment; (7) minimally invasive needle therapy such as stiletto needle and needle-knife; (8) functional exercise therapy; (9) Medical treatment.

2. Surgical treatment: including the removal of osteophyte, intervertebral disc and ligaments that make up the pressor for the spinal cord and nerves, or expanding spinal canal so that the spinal cord and nerves can be fully decompressed. Sometimes, the fusion of cervical spine through bone grafting or internal fixation is needed to maintain the stability of cervical spine.
