Wang Hongshu (1913 - 1987), male, was born in Beijing. Born in a family of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Mr. Wang studied with his father Wang Fengwu, a famous orthopedic doctor of TCM. In 1939, he received medical treatment independently and inherited his father's profession. He worked at Xiaoweiying, Jinyu Alley, Dongcheng, and soon gained a high reputation. Many people found him and sought medical treatment.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he studied modern medical knowledge at Beijing Advanced School of TCM from 1951 to 1953. In 1956, he was hired to work at the Department of Orthopedics of Beijing Hospital of TCM. In 1981, he was identified as the key inheritor of Beijing famous and old TCM academic experiences.

Mr. Wang was good at orthopedics in TCM. He inherited his family's treatment methods, but there were many innovations on this basis. His treatment methods were simple, that is in orthopedic fixation tools, he advocated to use local materials, and paper pad, small board and other tools were commonly used. He also emphasized the importance of treatment skills rather than drugs. He treated the patient kindly and affectionately, and his curative effect was remarkable, being deeply welcomed and loved by the broad masses of patients. He was highly skilled and not conservative, and he had unreservedly imparted his many years of medical experiences to his peers. He wrote many papers, such as Experience in the Treatment of Children's Zikua Hip, Conservative Treatment of Olecranon Fracture, Simple Treatment of Periarthritis of Shoulder and so on, which have received great attention and praise from orthopedics circles.
