From May 20 to 21, "2012 International Symposium on Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine" was held in Beijing Hotel, which was sponsored by Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, organized by Acupuncture and Moxibustion Center of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center, and co-organized by Beijing Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society. Nearly 200 medical professionals from more than 30 countries and regions attended the symposium.
On the symposium, on the basis of summing up the foreign affairs training of traditional Chinese medicine of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine over the years, especially on the basis of China's medical assistance training to developing countries, discussed the international exchange and training of traditional Chinese medicine, and conducted the international academic exchanges of traditional Chinese medicine. The theme of the conference was "Developing Hand in Hand to Create Brilliant Future of Acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine". Professor Wang Jusheng, the Director of Academic Committee of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, firstly reviewed the history of traditional Chinese medicine exchange of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The traditional Chinese medicine nursing experts from different countries made academic reports on the development and application of traditional Chinese medicine in different countries, and introduced the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine in their countries. Professor Wang Xiaomin, Professor Xu Chunjun, Professor Li Ping and Professor Liu Hongxu of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine gave splendid academic lectures respectively on the new progress of traditional Chinese medicine research in their respective research fields and the achievements in foreign exchange.
Since 1970, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has held various training courses in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, massage and health care, and trained thousands of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncture practitioners from more than 80 countries and regions. International trainees of traditional Chinese medicine trained in the hospital adopted Chinese medicine and acupuncture to treat patients' diseases in their respective countries after they have completed their studies, obtaining wide acclaim from their national medical systems and citizens. International academic training, exchange and cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine is an important way to expand the international influence of traditional Chinese medicine and enhance friendship and understanding with people all over the world.
Since 2004, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine began to hold training courses on traditional medicine in developing countries sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, including medical management, medical technology, maternal and child health care, nursing technology and others. The trainees from Asian, African and Latin American and other countries applied the knowledge and techniques of acupuncture of traditional Chinese medicine learned in China to their own countries' medical management, clinical practice and nursing, playing an active role in these aspects.
In order to better organize the foreign training projects supported by the state and maximize the training effect, this international symposium is specially held. The symposium invited medical officials and clinical health care personnel from developing countries to participate in the discussion and pool their wisdom to jointly promote the further development of foreign training of traditional Chinese medicine and upgrade the training level.
