From September 7 to 8, 2018,the 9th International Conference of Gastroenterology sponsored by Digestive Diseases Professional Committee of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and co-organized by Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Hohhot. More than 420 experts and scholars from all over the world attended the conference.

The purpose of the conference is to strengthen the academic exchange of Chinese medicine in preventing and treating digestive diseases, to enhance the understanding and cooperation among relevant groups, and to promote the healthy development of digestive sciences in the world. At the same time, it aims to build a high-level academic exchange platform of digestive disease research between traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, build a bridge of clinical and basic, prevention and treatment and other multi-disciplinary exchanges, and promote the common improvement of the level of prevention and treatment of digestive system diseases of traditional Chinese medicine at home and abroad.

Zhang Shengsheng, the Director of Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital, took as the Chairman of the conference, Professor Li Zhenji, the Vice President and Secretary General of the Founding of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Wu Lan, the Member of the Party Group of Health and Family Planning Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Director General of Mongolian Traditional Chinese Medicine Administration, Yang Guangyuan, the Director of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhao Yuming, the Vice President of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Professor Tang Xudong, the Former President and Director of Xiyuan Hospital, seated on the platform.

More than 40 famous digestive experts in Chinese and Western medicine, including Professor Li Zhenji, Professor Tang Xudong, Professor Zhang Shengsheng, and Professor Hou Xiaohua from Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, made keynote speeches on "Key Issues and Transformation of Research Achievements in Clinical Research of Traditional Chinese Medicine", "Essentials of Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment for Atrophic Gastritis", "What Can We Do More with Irritable Bowel Syndrome", "Thinking and Practice of Harmonic Therapy for Functional Dyspepsia" and so on. Seven units were set up to discuss the academic frontiers, the latest research results and the hot issues in this field at home and abroad, including Report of Special Invitations, Special Reports, Clinical Experience Forum on Classic Prescriptions for Treating Spleen and Stomach Diseases, Discussion Forum on Difficult Cases, Research Progress Forum and Youth Forum. The conference emphasized practicality, participants fully discussed and exchanged ideas on disease diagnosis and treatment, shared personal clinical experience, and fully returned to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine while closely following the development of modern medicine.

At the same time, the conference opened a 24-hour live broadcast of the entire network video, and the two-day broadcast attracted tens of thousands of viewers accumulated, greatly improving the efficiency of academic promotion. (Department of Gastroenterology)
