On August 17, 2013,"Beijing International Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment for Digestive Disease Summit Forum" sponsored by Spleen and Stomach Diseases Branch of China Association of Chinese Medicine, Spleen and Stomach Diseases Professional Committee of Beijing Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University and other units, and co-organized by our hospital was held in Beijing International Convention Center. Yu Wenming, the Deputy Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Pan Suyan, the Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals, Xie Yanggu, the Vice President of China Association of Chinese Medicine; Wang Xiaomin, the Vice President of Capital Medical University, Bian Zhaoxiang, the Vice President of Hong Kong Baptist University; Xin Bin, the Secretary of the Party Committee of our hospital, Liu Qingquan, the President of our hospital, and more than 20 foreign experts from more than 10 countries and more than 400 experts and scholars from China attended the meeting. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Shengsheng, the Chairman of the Conference, the Committee of Spleen and Stomach Diseases Branch of China Association of Chinese Medicine, the Chairman of Committee of the Spleen and Stomach Diseases Professional Committee of Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine, the Group Leader of National Key Specialist Cooperation Group for Spleen and Stomach Diseases of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Director of Department of Spleen and Stomach Diseases in our hospital.

Focusing on the international frontiers of digestive diseases, the conference paid attention to clinical practice and invited international and domestic Chinese and Western medicine experts in digestive diseases to carry out an extensive and in-depth exchange on the hot topics, latest progress and treatment ideas of digestive diseases of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, reflecting a higher international level. Professor Jeffrey L. Conklin from University of California in America, Professor Daniel C. Baumgart from Humboldt University in Germany, and domestic famous digestive disease experts, such as Professor Ke Meiyun from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Professor Hou Xiaohua from Wuhan Tongji Union Hospital, Professor Hu Fulian from Peking University First Hospital, Professor Hao Jianyu from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, and Professor Xu Youqing from Beijing Tiantan Hospital and others made vivid reports on the new clinical progresses like the "Progress of Diagnosis and Treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease", "Progress of Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease", "Progress of Diagnosis and Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome", "Diagnosis and Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer" and "Digestive Cases Discussion". Professor Zhang Shengsheng from our hospital, Professor Bian Zhaoxiang from Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Wang Xianbo from Beijing Ditan Hospital, Professor Shen Hong from Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Professor Tang Zhipeng from Shanghai Longhua Hospital and Professor Li Zhenhua from Xiyuan Hospital also made fascinating reports on the new clinical progresses such as treatment of chronic gastritis, gastrointestinal functional diseases, cirrhotic ascites, non-alcoholic fatty liver, chronic constipation, the scientific connotation and clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine in regulating the spleen and stomach. They were warmly welcomed by experts and scholars attending the meeting!

The organization unit, namely the Digestion Center of our hospital is the academic leading unit in the field of digestive diseases of traditional Chinese medicine. It organizes national and international academic conferences or new progress courses on digestive diseases of traditional Chinese and western medicine 2-3 times a year. The convening of this international conference fully reflects the "Equal Emphasis on Chinese and Western Medicine," and the full exchange of Chinese and Western medicine digestive diseases experts and the common development of them on the same platform will certainly lead to the improvement of the academic level of Chinese and Western medicine in digestive diseases.
