The symposium is the first international conference of acupuncture and moxibustion discipline to promote the discipline construction program. In line with the principle of "Emphasizing Precision and Depth", the conference emphasized "discussion" instead of pursuing scale. Based on the research status of international SCI papers, more than 10 scholars from Austria, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Korea, Australia, Germany, the United States, Hong Kong and other countries and regions were invited. Nine foreign scholars gave keynote speeches respectively at the meeting. They reported their research achievements from the aspects of evidence finding, acupuncture and high technology, clinical design and mechanism study of acupuncture. High-level acupuncture research reports at home and abroad were the main highlights of the conference, which were praised by the international and domestic experts and participants in this conference. They highly praised the conference with the expressions like "unexpected", "wonderful", "excellent", etc. Many experts said they hadn't attended such an international conference for a long time.

Another highlight of the conference was a free seminar on acupuncture and moxibustion science research organized by the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Center of our hospital. All the foreign guests took part in the discussion. Experts took the floor in a lively and debatable atmosphere, and the meeting, which began in the evening, lasted until nearly 11 at night. Finally, at the initiative of the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Center, the participants agreed to establish an academic organization (Collaboration for International Acupuncture Scientific Research - CIASR) to jointly conduct acupuncture research in traditional Chinese medicine, providing a platform for academic and cultural exchanges. At the meeting, a framework cooperation agreement was formed, and all parties jointly attended the signing ceremony of the agreement.

On the day the meeting was ended, all the foreign guests visited Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine accompanied by Vice President Jin Mei. Foreign scholars said that they had deeper understanding for the acupuncture discipline through the conference. They gave high praise to the research achievements of this discipline in recent years. In addition, the meeting was covered by China News of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Health News, Science and Technology Daily, Beijing Evening News, The Mirror, Sina.com.cn and other media reported the meeting.
